2010 - Best Bakery

Readers’ Pick:

Freed’s Bakery

Others come and go, but when readers think of bakeries in Las Vegas, they clearly think of Freed’s. For the old-timers, that probably has a lot to do with tradition, but for all of those newcomers, it’s probably because Freed’s keeps up with the times, with cupcake towers and photo cakes and Las Vegas-themed cakes, among others. Great Buns finishes a distant second.

Our Pick:

Great Harvest Bread Co.

For the most part, Great Harvest means bread — fresh-daily (though never on Sundays), whole-grain, home-baked bread — but they’ve been branching out in recent years. We love to stop by for a stacked sandwich on that fresh-sliced bread, or a cookie or scone or brownie, oh, my. And since a free slice of bread is offered to all comers, we could even stop in just for a snack, should we so desire.

We sure like freed’s. Everything there tastes different. Some other places they use the same batter and the same icing on everything.
Great Buns is also a “Top Shelf” bakery Their breads and rolls are the best in town.
