Todd’s manages to edge out a longtime favorite as the reader pick for this category this year, and we can only guess it’s because more people are discovering the quality of Todd Clore’s food, the prompt and pleasant service and the relatively recession-friendly prices. Rosemary’s Restaurant is a close second.

We like Todd’s, too, partly because of the convenient location close to Interstate 215 and the Beltway, but especially because of dishes such as goat cheese won tons with raspberry-basil sauce and seared scallops with mushrooms, mashed potatoes and pumpkin-seed butter. Which is making us hungry right now.

I totally agree with Todd’s being named the best gourmet restaurant in Las Vegas. Todd is in the kitchen unlike other celebrity chefs and he changes the menu in concert with the availability of fresh produce and fish.

A poor choice for Best Gourmet. I dined at Todd’s in December. The booth seating was so uncomfortable, we felt like we were sitting in a cheap used booth. For a Gourmet restaurant, the lighting was poorly executed . The first table we were seated at, near the kitchen door had no candles or lights, just a muddy brown wall. Our waiter was abrupt and pushy. We ordered three appetizers, one entree and a bottle of wine. It was a challenge to make the selections. The menu items were so varied it was difficult at best to order items that did not overwhelm each other and our palate. It seems as if the menu pools from many cultures and regions, leaving us with a “Festival of Flavors”. I felt as if we were at a food fair with high prices.
Also, for the record, Todd flooded his diners with emails to vote for their Restaurant for Best of Vegas. Shouldn’t the contest be more at the casual will of the people?
