Jerry Springer’s Secret Love? Las Vegas

He credits his success to chance, but scoring four hosting projects and several guest roles in two decades alludes to something more than just favoritism from Lady Luck.
After all, just say the name “Jerry Springer” and you’ll be sure to get an expression of recognition.
With two shows already in his lineup and two more hosting gigs on the horizon, Springer is a busy man. If he’s not in Stamford, Conn., filming the 21st season of his show, “The Jerry Springer Show,” he’s in Los Angeles filming Game Show Network’s “Baggage.” Springer finds himself back in Las Vegas with two more shows: “The Price is Right” and “America’s Got Talent Live.”
Formerly a host of the NBC hit series “America’s Got Talent” in 2008
and 2009 and the emcee of the inaugural live edition in Oct. 2010,
Springer is returning to host the extravaganza in Las Vegas on Oct.
28-30 at Caesars Palace.
“I used to host “America’s Got Talent,” and two summers ago, I wasn’t
able to do it anymore because I was doing the musical ‘Chicago’ on
Broadway. I wanted to stay connected to the show because I love it,”
Springer said.
“In show business terms, [“America’s Got Talent”] is a manifestation of
the American Dream. It is a show where you do not have to be rich or
famous. You do not have to be living in Hollywood or New York. You can
be singing into your hairbrush in front of the mirror in your bedroom
in the middle of America and your mom walks by and says, ‘Hey, that’s
good.’”
With some of the country’s most diverse entertainers taking the stage
for the three-day event, the live show will feature season winners
like vocalist Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. as well as The Silhouettes,
Team iLuminate, PopLyfe, Landon Swank and Anna Graceman. “America’s
Got Talent” season five winner Michael Grimm and “Australia’s Got
Talent” winner Jack Vidgen will also be amongst the performers.
For Springer, little of his time in Vegas isn’t work. When he does have free time, Springer has a couple of favorite Vegas spots.
“There’s this one place I enjoy at the Paris, Mon Ami Gabi. I really enjoy the environment there. I also hit all the regular great restaurants that are there, but that one is by far one of my favorites,” Springer said.
If he’s lucky enough to catch a show after grabbing some dinner, you
can find him at “Terry Fator: Ventriloquism in Concert,” which Springer
says he’s naturally attached to because of Fator’s involvement with
“America’s Got Talent.”
Though Springer said he doesn’t get as much time off as he’d like when he’s in the city, those pockets of relaxation he has are spent taking a drive.
“Vegas is such a great place, so much fun and such a beautiful area,” Springer said. “Whenever I get a day off, I just drive around for the beautiful sights. A lot of people in America do not realize that visually, it is a phenomenal place. It is fun getting to work out here.”
